MARBLE AND GILT BRONZE CONSOLE TABLE, France, First quarter of the 19th Century
Marble and Gilt Bronze
h. 98 cm, w. 165 cm, d. 60 cm
This console was made in the first quarter of the 18th Century in France or Germany.
The console is made of six pieces and the marble top lays on a frame in oak wood and gilt bronze.
This piece is certainly a rare example of a console table that features animals, in this case griffins, decorated with gilt bronze. In fact, no other objects of this type are included in public collections and museums.
