The foot of the vase, with a purplish blue lustre glaze, is set into a base with four concave sides from which four dolphins leap surrounded by reeds. e body is clasped by two swan protome handles that broaden to form large leaves wrapping around the whole body, surmounted by crowns; other leaf motifs depart vertically from the handles. e neck consists of a perforated bronze ring as does the lid in the form of a lattice topped by a knob in the shape of a tuft.
Signed at the base Le Maire Demouy à Paris
